This is the site of Joel and Talia. We just had our first child and the pictures are starting to pile up (or at least fill the hard drive). This site is for . . . well, apparently for posting pictures of our son. We’ll try to post a few other things, too.

The Wedding

We were married May 7, 2005 on St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands. We have posted a few pictures from the wedding, and more will probably be posted in the future.

About Talia

I was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and am a triplet! I grew up in Philly and went to Central High School (yay 256!!!!) and then studied abroad in Israel during my freshman year of college. After graduating from college in Washington, D.C. with a B.A. in international affairs I attended law school. I spend my spare time shopping, running and reading Stephen King novels. During my second year at in law school, I wrote a published article, arguing against Florida’s policies that forbid adoption by homosexual parents. I am currently working as an attorney with a private company specializing in Social Security Disability law.

About Joel

I was born in Brattleboro, Vermont, and grew up in Bangor, Maine. As a kid, I took piano lessons, stopped piano lessons, took trumpet lessons, stopped trumpet lessons (for a couple reasons, including braces), took guitar lessons, stopped guitar lessons, started piano lessons again, stopped piano lessons again, started playing drums in high school, and I eventually started playing guitar again (the drums had to go when started living in a small apartment). Prior to law school, I worked as a technical writer for a software company. In my spare time, I listen to music (often Dream Theater), play guitar (I only have three, regardless of what Talia claims), take pictures and read.

How We Met

Joel and Talia met on the first day of law school in August 2001 during the 1L orientation session. Talia sat next to Joel and struck up a conversation by offering him an orange Tic Tac. They soon discovered they were in the same first-year section and research and writing section. They became friends and started dating at the end of their second semester.

The Engagement

December 23, 2003

Joel and Talia, after going to the art museum, took a walk along the river. While standing under the pillars Joel asked Talia to marry him . . . and she said (somewhat obviously at this point) yes! They were then greeted with clapping and cheers from a Verizon worker who had witnessed the event from the parking lot.

Places We’ve Been

Joel and Talia have travelled to a variety of places together: Athens, PA and the nearby Seneca Lake region in NY, Jim Thorpe, PA for a vigorous 26 mile bike ride through the Lehigh Valley Gorge, and San Francisco, CA to visit Talia’s sister, Sahrye.
